Have you experienced getting sleepless nights just to finish watching a newly found TV series? It started when I had this argument with my brother for having himself stucked infront of the computer watching a korean series in youtube. And I was like, "hindi ka pa rin tapos diyan? Ano ba yang pinapanood mo? baka may chance na ako naman ang gumamit ng computer.
"Empress Ki" he said. Ano?? Empress ano?? Empress Ki nga, then he walked out of the room.
That night after, out of curiousity, I waited for this Empress Ki TV series.. and....I got hooked on the characters' stories and before you knew it, you can't stop watching every episode... I ended up buying a dvd for myself so I can watch the entire series. So in less than three days, you've seen the entire series. That's the story of my life for the past 72 hours. To be honest, I was not expecting that Empress Ki would catch my attention. Just when I least expected it, I fell in love with the characters of Seung-Nyang, Wang Yu, Emperor Huizong, and Tal Tal.
I'm not a big fan of korean tv series. To name a few, I have watched: Full House, Queen Seondeok, Jewel in the Palace, and Jumong. Don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't like them but because I find it weird reading the subtitle while hearing the actors speak their native language. Yes, it sure does require some effort to watch this kind of series. One blink and I might miss an important line from the characters. I believe that Empress Ki is the exception.
I’ve recently became immersed with Empress Ki, a Korean historical drama (with historical being loosely stated) that has gotten me addicted to it’s story, romance, drama, action, and even a bit of comedy. It’s easily one of the better asian soaps I’ve seen in a while, since Jumong. I suddenly fell in love with a particular tv series and watched the whole thing, and I had to focus on the sub titles or else I wouldn't understand anything!

Tal Tal, (Jin Yi-Han in real life) is one of the character in Empress Ki that really really moved me. The serious look, but really minded. He is able to convey much with very little apparent effort. Now he makes me search for more dramas/koreanovelas to watch that includes him. Oh my G!....
I salute the lovely Ha Ji-Won I and the witty Ji Chang-Wook too! They're just.. Amazzinng!! They just gets better and better everytime I watch them. And I am totally mesmerized by Joo Jin Mo as Wang Yu. The producers of Empress Ki couldn’t have chosen a better person than Joo Jin Mo to play the role of Wang Yu. He had such an enigmatic personality. As Wang Yu, he exuded a different kind of charisma on screen, that once he starts delivering his lines, one just can’t help but stop and just watch intently. As Wang Yu, Joo Jin Mo embodied lordliness and power. He was noble and fearless. Joo Jin Mo looked every inch a king, and had that natural air of authority which confers a certain prestige on him. As Wang Yu, he had such a magnetic personality, it was difficult not to cheer him on.
Meeting him in person and shaking his hands one day would definitely be a dream come true. He's one of the very few people I'm so grateful I was born in their lifetime. Hands down to Mr. Joo Jin Mo Ha Ji-Won I Ji and Chang-Wook, and all the cast of Empress Ki for such a superb drama series.
Someday i will visit Korea just to see the actors/actress of Empress Ki. :) you've got my heart there!
